It is now possible to get your RYA Short Range Certificate for Marine VHF DSC radio's in The Netherlands.
So if you want to use devices with abbreviations such as: SART, Epirb, DSC, VHF,  PLB, GMDSS and more, this is the training that you need.
You can read more about the benefit of VHF use here.

Fully English spoken courses are arranged about once every two months. Course dates and venues are set in mutual agreement, we will keep you up to date if you add your name to the newsletter list:

Please feel free to call us during office hours: 024.78.51.520.

Costs, including book, certificate, exam fee, exam guarantee and lunch: € 285.

This one day course is very straightforward, you don't have to learn the abbreviations, just the use of the devices.
Please note that you have to register your equipment in the country where you live in, or in the country where your boat is registered.

Posession of the SRC is not bound by nationality but outside Europe it is prudent to enquire with the local authority if the RYA SRC is accepted. So far the only known exception in the EU is Germany, which only accepts the RYA SRC for Germans if they make a small extra written test. (For non-Germans, the RYA SRC is valid in Germany)

four steps

  1. Book a course. Fully English spoken courses are arranged about once every month.
A few days later you will receive the self-study book by postal mail.
  2. At the arranged day, you have to pass a theory and a practical exam. The passing rate is very high, you can test yourself on www.ryainteractive.org.
  3. Three to four weeks later you will receive your SRC in the mail.
  4. You can now register your equipment. If you live in the Netherlands with: Agentschap Telecom, in the UK with ofcom.org.uk
An alternative: take a direct exam, without tuition, for GBP 65. (No tuition is included, only self-study)
